Brimming with creative energy, versatile British artist Samantha Ellis has developed a loose, dynamic and highly individual style, perfectly suited to her engaging subject matter. Her many subjects include high octane cityscapes, vintage vehicles and an irresistible family of handsome hounds and mucky pups, the last of which has established her as one of the UK's leading lights in the field of pet portraiture. Born in Northampton in 1992, Ellis now lives and works in Suffolk.

A self-taught artist, she has the gift of originality and her first collection established her reputation as a genuine rising star. Since then, she has gone from strength to strength and become one of the UK's most distinctive contemporary voices.

Her modern and stylish take on the world around us is characterised by intricate designs, vivid colours and a strong sense of energy and movement. Working mainly from a combination of photographic reference and her own vivid imagination, she may create a representation of a real place on occasion, while another image may combine scenes and play around with the composition; she herself describes this process as "letting loose and having fun. My art is rooted in reality", she says, "but with a twist of imagination…"
