Artist Bio
Steve Tandy is currently making waves in galleries across the UK. His captivating wildlife paintings uniquely capture the personalities and character traits of his subjects, giving them an almost human-like quality. Inspired by the popular culture of the '50s and '60s, Tandy places his wildlife creations in settings reminiscent of that era. With a fascination for iconic figures like Marlon Brando, James Dean, Jimi Hendrix, David Hockney, Andy Warhol, and Marilyn Monroe, Tandy incorporates references to movie scenes, cars, motorcycles, and artwork from that time. Penguins, pandas, and polar bears take centre stage, adding an enchanting twist to his creations.
Steve Tandy is currently being hailed as the man of the moment in galleries around the UK. His quirky and colourful wildlife paintings capture the personalities and character traits of his subjects, making them appear almost human and putting them in settings inspired by popular culture of the ’50s and ’60s. Fascinated by iconic figures such as Marlon Brando, James Dean, Jimi Hendrix, David Hockney, Andy Warhol and Marilyn Monroe, he often references movie scenes, cars, motorcycles or paintings of this period, but replaces the humans with wildlife, mainly penguins, pandas and polar bears. His uncanny ability to convey human life in this playful and unusual way has seen his popularity soar, and his star is rising both in the UK and internationally. He describes his own work as “realism and surrealism with pop art influences”, and in his more serious moments he includes subtle hints about caring for the planet, referencing deforestation, climate change and changing wildlife habitats.
Exhibited at the Windsor Contemporary Art Show where the Mayor of Windsor bought one of his paintings.
Work is exhibited and sold in an increasing number of prestigious galleries in the UK and Australia and his collector base is expanding rapidly.
“I believe Art should either make you think or make you smile, I’d like to think my work does both.”

We were looking for a unique piece for my parents 50th anniversary. The ladies were very helpful and gave great ideas what pieces represented. We chose a lovely puffin sculpture called rocky romance. I would definitely recommend this gallery who wants one to one custom, knowledge of their pieces.Rachel Cowel
Fantastic service from the Beverley gallery. Both David and Evie were helpful and knowledgeable. We decided on 2 Tom Butler prints and David was happy to bring them to our home so we could see them in situ and answer any questions we had. We are delighted with both and would definitely recommend Trent GalleriesCathy Scarr
